The roads got a little treacherous at times.
By 9:00 a.m. I was knee-deep in farm animals. This is a Mini Jersey Cow. Both of these girls are getting ready to have calves.
These cows provide 2.5 gallons of milk a day (when they have a calf). Too much to drink, Jorg has been experimenting with making her own cheese.
This is Oreo, and he's 40 years old!
Sheep.
Most of these horses are seniors. All came out of very bad situations, and several are severely lame. They will live out their lives here to be enjoyed just for being a horse. Horses that are too old or too injured to be ridden do not often get this luxury. We like to call them "pasture ornaments" and have just as much personality as a dog or cat.
Some eggs from the hen house. They also have the breeds that lay blue, green, and pink eggs. All their chickens have names and most would come right up to you and let you pet them. Like the cows they are safe here-Tom and Jorg are veggies!
Little the rooster.
Tattoo the rooster with some lady friends.
Mission accomplished. The purpose of my trip was to deliver the new sign for the White Bird Appaloosa Horse Rescue. I very much enjoyed working on the logo and had a wonderful experience visiting the farm. If you want to follow Tom and Jorg on their farming adventures I highly suggest RSSing their blog: Down on the Farm.
