conformation

1. the general shape or outline of an object; configuration
2. the arrangement of the parts of an object

Now that we know what the word means, perhaps we can understand why there is no documentation of a rearing cow. Which forced me dig deep into anatomy books and reference photos. Straight back legs, long backs, heavy mid area, short necks, and unbalanced chests. They wouldn't be able to hold themselves up. But such is the beauty of creating-you can make whatever you want happen. This is the first draft for a new project. Notice the horses body. I sketched this off an actual photo. Balance, strength in the haunches, light in the mid section and balanced chest. Most amazing his one leg was cocked, which means he's balancing nearly all his weight on the outside leg. My sketch doesn't do justice to the muscles at work in the rear but I'll try to dig up the original photo.
